Mask - invert?

Is there a way to invert a mask?
As far as I can tell adjustments affect only the masked region.
For example, if I have a central image that I wish to preserve as full HDR and want to de-emphasise the background, it may be quicker to mask the central image and then 'invert' thus 'de-masking' the image and masking the background.

BTW love the fixed paint brush size and zoom combination.
