SNS-HDR Lite and Error message

Postby phototramp » Sun Sep 18, 2011 2:51 pm

Hi Sebastian,

I'm trying to use SNS-HDR Light with a stack of 3 images (I tried both JPGs and CR2 Raws). The programme runs its components (i.e. Loading-->Aligning-->Analysing-->Merging-->Tone Mapping) just fine, but when saving starts it displays a red ERROR message. What can be causing it?

I use WinXP32SP2, and run SNS-HDR Light by dropping the images onto a shortcut to SNS-HDR.exe No command-line parameters are used.

Cheers!

Hi Phototramp,

maybe it is helpfull if you write in your Post which Error message you receive.
Or your firewall has the EXIFTOOL.EXE detected as a virus, and can not store too (i've tested this program over Virus Total 100% clean)
However, for me at the beginning Kaspersky always reported an error - have now approved it completely.

You have installed .NET Framework 3.0 SP2?

It appears that I have NET2.0, NET3.0, NET 3.5, and NET4.0 all installed. The error in SNS-HDR Lite console is just the word 'ERROR' in red when the programme is saving processed file.

I use AVG resident shield, but I have used ExifToolGUI for years now with no problems.

In which folder does the SNS-HDR Lite try to save files?

It is important that you have installed .NET Framework 3.0 with Service Pack 2.
You check it.

In the source images folder.

Hi,

I did check and it seems that I do have the .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 installed:

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Microsoft Corporation 2.2.30729 2009-11-03
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 Microsoft Corporation 3.2.30729 2009-11-03
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Microsoft Corporation 3.5.30729 2009-11-03
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Microsoft Corporation 4.0.30319 2011-06-16
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended Microsoft Corporation 4.0.30319 2011-06-16

I managed to run the SNS-HDR Lite at least once without error! But most of the time it gives me an error (screen shot attached). I can't figure out what is causing it.

Thanks.

How big are images?
You try use a smaller image or use reduce size option (-x2).

Hi again, and thanks.

I'm testing SNS-HDR Lite on sets of 3 bracketed images. Each image is 10Mp. I tried merging .CR2s, JPEGs, and TIFFs (8 and 16bit) - all of them result in the 'ERROR' (most of the time), as described. Reducing size doesn't help, neither does changing output file type. For instance, here are the switches that still give a saving Error message:

"C:\Documents and Settings\A\Desktop\SNS-HDR Lite\SNS-HDR.exe" -srgb -x4 -default -jpeg

Cheers!

mt/Sebastian...

FYI, I have been using 'SNS-HDR Lite' since 2009 with no problems with a Vista 32 Home Premium SP2 OS with latest updates and current .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 4 Client Profile with CR2 files or their 16 bit sRGB conversions...

Don't know if this info helps or not...

When saving a blended image set, do their color profiles have to be the same? and either sRGB, or Adobe RGB, or ProPhoto RGB?

I essentially have default color management set to sRBG for all devices...

The HDR images has the same color space as the source images.
The default color space for the RAW files is Adobe RGB.
